Absolutely chilly yet beautiful and cloud free Thanksgiving day here at The Ranch.  Double digit PAX posting was more than enough for YHC to give thanks for.  A few returning FNG’s is always a good sign that we are growing as a group.  The disclaimer was given and the men were off…

WARMING UP THE OVEN

  • TURKEY TROT AROUND DOG PARK AND BACK TO COURTS

Mosey to the mailboxes where YHC had done his research and there would be a theme to today’s Thanksgiving madness.  First up was some information about the Mayflower.  This was the ship that carried the pilgrims to America.  The average age of each passenger on board was 32 years.  The oldest passenger was 64 years.

  • MERKINS  –  X32  –  OYO
  • DIPS  –  X64  –  OYO

TIME TO COOK THE TURKEY

Now we discussed the arrival of the Mayflower into America which happened on Nov 20th, 1620.

  • 4 LIGHT POLES  –  EXERCISE AT EACH THEN SPRINT TO NEXT
  • 1ST POLE MERKINS  –  X11  –  OYO
  • 2ND POLE  MERKINS  –  X20  –  OYO
  • 3RD POLE  MERKINS  –  X16  –  OYO
  • 4TH POLE  MERKINS  –  X20  –  OYO
  • BIG BOY SITUPS WHILE WE WAIT FOR ALL PAX TO COMPLETE

INDIAN RUN south on Sunlake Blvd to 4th pole.  This time YHC informed the PAX that there were approx 100 passengers aboard the Mayflower.  When they arrived they were befriended by an indian from the Wampanoag tribe named Squanto.  A few PAX mentioned that his name sounded like squats.  YHC also mentioned that about half or 50 of the Pilgrims passed away either on the journey or during the initial winter.

  • SQUATS  –  X100  –  OYO
  • MUCHO CHESTO (50 reps total)  –  X1  –  OYO
  • AL GORE UNTIL ALL PAX COMPLETE

INDIAN RUN north on Sunlake Blvd back to the 4th pole where we would learn about the first ever Thanksgiving feast.  The Indians were not actually invited to the feast they simply overheard the celebration and gunfire and came to see what was going on.  At that point the Pilgrims offered for them to bring their whole tribe to the celebration.  The pilgrims had no meat only vegetables and corn so the Indians brought 5 deer to be shared.  There were about 90 Wampanoag Indians and 1 Indian chief named Massasoit.

  • SALUTE PLANKS  –  X90  –  OYO
  • BRUCE LEE  –  X1  –  OYO
  • PLANK OR REVERSE PLANK UNTIL ALL PAX COMPLETE

INDIAN RUN back to mailboxes catch me if you can style with 5 burpees.  Along the way we had a few PAX struggling to keep up so YHC called an audible.  Everyone lined up and did burpees until the remaining could catch up and get a good sized lead.  At that point YHC yelled go and everyone chased them to the mailboxes so that everyone could finish together.

TIME TO EAT

A quick 1/4 mile race to the dead end.  Everyone pushing themselves to the limit here in fact a few almost got ran over by a passing car they were running so fast.  In the end our 1st F Q took the prize while last place got to wear the turkey helmet back to the courts as a consolation.  Again along the mosey back we were all in agreement that everyone is a winner for making it to the beatdown and bettering ourselves.

Back at the courts it was time to get some water and hold AL GORE position while YHC handed out some awards that he had created.

  • GALLOPING GOBBLER  –  HAKA
  • PRETTIEST FEATHERS  –  NO-SKI
  • GOBBLE TIL YOU WOBBLE  –  NO-SEE-UM
  • STUFFED TURKEY  –  GROUPER
  • BEST PILGRIMAGE  –  APNEA

MOLESKIN

  • YHC is incredibly thankful for the amount of HIM posting today.  Such a great honor to be surrounded by like minded men that come out and give it their all to become stronger and better leaders in our community.
  • Although they may not see it, the new guys @SANKA and @MURPHY pushing themselves to the very limit was motivation for all of us today.
  • Hope everyone enjoyed the race at the end and the trophy presentation.  It was just a little way that I could personally thank those who have helped me become the very person that I strive to be everyday.
