12 PAX (2 FNGs) posted on a gloriously hot and humid morning for our 3rd annual 4th of July C.S.A.U.P.  Today’s theme was the return of Big Bertha.  Coming off a long hiatus and apparently a recent trip to the body shop, she was all painted up with her best star spangled attire and ready for action.  The disclaimer was given (twice I might add) WITH 2 KEY POINTS…rucks will remain on at all times and at any point a car honks all PAX are to drop and complete SALUTE PLANKS  –  X10.  And with that we were off to experience the best of what this free country has to offer…

WARMUP

  • SSH  –  X15  –  IC
  • HILLBILLY  –  X10  –  IC
  • SALUTE PLANKS  –  X10  –  IC

RUCK TO DEAD END

Bertha and the chains were waiting for the PAX at the dead end thanks to some early planning on YHC and No-See-Um’s part.  The mumble chatter quickly intensified as YHC dropped Bertha on her back star spangled banner facing upward and announced her participation.  Partner up for ALTERNATING SETS, and the last team to finish will bear the burden of carrying the chains on the path to stop 2.

  • DIRKINS  –  X100
  • STEP UPS  –  X200
  • LBCs  –  X300

RUCK TO SUNLAKE BLVD WITH BERTHA

Again Bertha was laid on her back to assist the PAX in completing another round of ALTERNATING SETS.  At least 3 or 4 honks had been received at this point…

  • MERKINS  –  X100
  • SQUATS  –  X200
  • FLUTTERKICKS  –  X300

RUCK TOWARDS THE HOH WITH BERTHA

We arrived about 1/4 mile shy of the HOH for our final stop of ALTERNATING SETS.  At least 2 or 3 more honks this time and one retired Vietnam Vet who pulled over and stopped while we praised him for his service by performing SALUTE PLANKS in his honor while his M took pics and video (this is what true freedom and our great country are all about).  Rucks came off for this final set as many PAX were feeling the pain…

  • BURPEES  –  X76
  • DIPS  –  X200
  • AMERICAN HAMMERS  –  X300

GRAND TOTAL FOR ALL ALTERNATING SET REPS PERFORMED  –  “1776”

RUCKS BACK ON AND HEAD TO HOH (leaving Bertha behind)

In honor of 7/4/1776 YHC had 7 sets of 4 exercises to be performed at reps of 1,7,7 and 6.  Between sets mosey up the HOH and back down.

  • BURPEE  –  X1
  • LUNGES  –  X7
  • BIG BOY SITUPS  –  X7
  • MERKINS  –  X6

Due to time constraints we had to cut this short a few rounds, however we all finished the last round strong with a BEAR CRAWL to the top.  Dehydration was setting in and the PAX were feeling it bad at this point (even though YHC gave solid preblasts to bring plenty of water).  30 minutes to go and it was time to go get Bertha.

RUCK BACK TO SUNLAKE BLVD TO GET BERTHA

Bertha was a little upset that we left her behind and rolled over into the grass along the sidewalk and would not move.  Time to chain her up and begin our 2 X 2 drag show.  Each set of PAX took at least 2 turns on the chains pulling for as long as they could.  Total distance covered approx 1/4 mile.

Bertha finished on the sidewalk and it was time to flip some sense into her.  2 X 2 the PAX alternated sets of 2 flips until everyone had a few chances to get to know Bertha’s true force.  Upon completion it was time to head in…

RUCK BACK TO BB COURTS WITH BERTHA

Finished a little early, however PAX were all suffering from exhaustion so YHC opted to do a photo shoot in lieu of Savasana…A few great patriotic poses with the flags, chains and Bertha and we had reached the end of our journey…

COT

  • Prayers for our nations military that they can reunite and strengthen like the old days.
  • Prayers for our country and the world during the pandemic.
  • Prayers for No-See-Um and his family.
  • Praises for Solo as he has seen the results of his hard work paying off.

MOLESKIN

YHC is always impressed with the performance of our HIM, however today was extra special.  Everyone giving it their all even with the severe heat, humidity and dehydration setting in was a great sight to see.  Bertha had us a bit unorganized at times however her presence brought the mumble chatter, groans and laughter which well made up for it.  Very impressed with our 2 FNG’s @Cougar and @Sloppy Joe…Both of them stood out and endured the pain the entire way without fail, hope to see them back out soon!  Shout out to @DBA for not only posting with a very sore lower back but carrying the flag most of the way and providing the cinematography for our glorious day.  Another shout out to @No-See-Um for providing the uber service for Bertha to get to and from the location.  The camaraderie and motivation today by all PAX was steller and on point as always including the FNGs.  GREAT JOB MEN IT WAS AN HONOR TO LEAD YOU TODAY!!!
