QIC: Madoff
PAX POSTED: Apnea, DBA, Bluey (DR from Geneva, IL), Chowdah, Goose, Grouper, Hitchhiker, Hooker, Ikea, Madoff, Sbarro, Seltzer, Tebow, Waterboy

In memoriam of the iconic Mirage Casino that just closed its doors a couple of weeks ago, YHC decided to plan a Las Vegas themed beatdown.  Interesting fact: the Mirage was the first casino on the Las Vegas strip to feature a sidewalk attraction: the volcano which “erupted” nightly.  It was the first casino YHC ever visited and the last time I was there, they took all my money…so the closing makes me sad (but also a little happy at the same time).

14 pax gathered in the gloom around a makeshift craps table and a stack of cards to try their hand with Lady Luck.  YHC has no prior experience as a blackjack dealer or a craps boxman, and, after this morning, all 14 pax agree he has no business being either.  But we had fun playing our own F3 version of two classic casino games and got in a great beatdown at the same time.

Welcome to Madoff’s Casino, where no one ever wins any money (not even the House)!

Not everything went exactly as planned, but the pax just rolled with it (pun intended).  Thanks to Lady Luck, no one ever knew what exercise was coming next…not even YHC!

The warmup:

  • SSH 15 IC
  • Frankenstein 10 IC
  • Tappity Tap Tap 10 IC
  • Forward Baby Arm Circles 10 IC
  • Reverse Baby Arm Circles 10 IC
  • Windmills 10 IC

The Thang:

Mosey to the field

Several rounds of F3 Craps (approximately 15 minutes)
First roll: 2, 11 or 12 loses; 7 wins

Anything else (3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10) becomes the point

On subsequent rolls, 2, 11 or 12 is nothing and requires shooter to roll the bones again; 7 before the point loses; rolling the point again wins; any other number do 20 reps of that exercise

3=20 calf raises

4=20 American hammers EW

5=20 squats

6=20 lunges EW

7=20 merkins (plus mosey across field & back as penalty for losing)

8=20 dips

9=20 shoulder taps EW

10=20 LBCs

Loss= everyone moseys across field and back

Win= pass dice to next shooter

Several rounds of F3 Blackjack (approximately 20 minutes)

Each card in the stack had the name of an exercise written on it; the number value of each card represented the number of reps to be done for that exercise;  as in real casino blackjack, Jacks, Queens and Kings all have a number value of 10; Aces have a number value of either 1 or 11.

Rules were simple: each pax took turn as the player; YHC dealt them 2 cards face up.  Player was required to hit until the total hand dealt was at least 12, then chose whether to “hit” or “stay”.

If player did not bust by going over 21, all the pax did each exercise for the number of reps shown on each card in that hand, and then the next pax in line became the player for the next hand to be dealt.

If the player busted, the pax were given a choice of doing 21 burpees or a 21 yard bear crawl, followed by all pax doing each exercise for the number of reps shown on each card in that hand. Then, the next pax in line became the player for the next hand to be dealt.

Mosey back to basketball courts
