Two PAX gathered ITG at the Village AO to celebrate the Christmas season and to get a fun beatdown in. We were able to do both with a carefully crafted set of exercises that re-enacted scenes from some classic Christmas movies. The only thing better than watching your favorite Christmas movies is to bring them to life and to become a part of them! YHC really enjoyed this one because it allowed him to tap into his creative side. Core principles were recited, disclaimers given and then we were off!
“A Christmas Story” warm up:
- 10 Lil’ Brother Randy’s IC (flap arms up and down) “Can’t put my arms down”
- 10 Snow Angels OYO
- “Triple Dog dare you” 10 BAC IC with tongue out (stuck to a pole)
- 10 reverse BAC IC
- SSH while Chinese restaurant waiters sing “Deck the Halls”
The Thang:
“You’ll shoot your eye out, kid!” / Ralphie vs. Scut Farkus
Partner up. PAX 1 (“Ralphie”) gets a head-start mosey while other PAX yell “you’ll shoot your eye out kid!” Then PAX #2 (“Scut Farkus”) does 5 merkins and starts chasing “Ralphie”. When “Scut” catches him, “Ralphie” puts down block and yells “UNCLE!” Then both PAX do 20 American Hammers. Then switch places and repeat until middle staircase by fountain.
Mosey to center of the park (caroling along the way is optional)
Home Alone:
- Bear crawl from center of park to the front of “the McAllister house.”
- Lunge walk around back to avoid Kevin McAllister’s boobie traps.
- 10 burpees in alleyway behind house (to simulate the burglars slipping on the iced-over stairs)
- Sprint away to avoid being hunted by Kevin McAllister.
Elf:
- Run through the Candy Cane Forest (mosey around the trees), past the Sea of Swirly-Twirly Gumdrops (mosey through parking lot behind apartments), then side shimmy against walls through “the Lincoln Tunnel” to “The City”.
- PAX form tight circle then run around in circles (simulating Buddy going around revolving door) then broad jump across the street (just like Buddy the Elf jumping across Park Avenue).
- Mosey to the front of the big Christmas Tree and do 10 Bonnie Blairs (scene from when Buddy & Jovie went to “get some food” and ice skated at Rockefeller Center. Then mosey across “Central Park” (to escape from the Central Park Rangers).
March of the Wooden Soldiers:
March single file across the field to the playground (just like the Wooden Soldiers)
The Grinch:
Mosey to playground for “How the Grinch Stole Coupons”
The slide is the Grinch’s lair; each PAX takes a turn as “the Grinch”.
“The Grinch” goes up the slide, then slides down, and tiptoes into Whoville while the rest of the PAX are doing synchronized squats, then steals the sandbag & the Christmas tree, then runs back to the slide and runs up the stairs, and then the rest of the PAX start singing “fahoo forays dahoo dorays, welcome Christmas come this way”. When “the Grinch” hears the Whos singing, he slides down and brings their coupons back. Rinse & repeat until each PAX gets a turn at being “the Grinch”.
Mosey back to Sudbury Court behind WPVTC. (Caroling along the way is optional)
Die Hard is a Christmas Movie!!!
- Stop at grassy knoll on Sudbury Court. Plank next to each other over grass on the 29th floor of Nakatomi Tower for several rounds of Tunnel of Love (John McClane crawling through the ductwork with Hans Gruber and his men on the floor below).
- Take the stairs up to the 30th floor of Nakatomi Tower while carrying blocks up.
- Broad jump burpees along bridge to defeat the German terrorists, then..
- 10 block swings toward railing to throw Hans through the window and then PAX yell “yipee ki yay MF!”.
- Run back down the stairs.
- Mosey back to flag with blocks
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Mary:
- PAX took turns doing a squat, yelling “squirrel!” and then doing a flying squirrel (re-enacted scene where there was a squirrel in the Christmas tree). Rinse and repeat 10 times
- 20 BBS
- 10 Snots each leg (a/k/a fire hydrants)
- 20 Freddie Mercuries HW
- 20 Mountain climbers HW
COT
