9 PAX donned their hazmat suits, slammed their vodka, and prepared themselves for a Chernobyl liquidator style beatdown at the Boneyard courtesy of comrade Tebow.
PAX first warmed up with SSH, Windmill, and a mosey around the boneyard followed by some stretching.
Next, PAX did a Merkin half-mile with 15 Merkins and 5 Pull-ups at every 1/4 mile.
The Thang
Reactor #4 at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded on April 26th, 1986. Highly radioactive debris was strewn all across the roof of the power plant. Robots were unable to clear all of the debris so the job fell to 5,000 liquidators who had the misfortune of clearing the roof so that a protective containment facility could be built overtop. Each liquidator had 90 second to clear as much highly radioactive material as they could before they had to haul ass inside. Today’s beatdown was inspired by these brave liquidators.
The boneyard was set up with two rows of cones and PAX separated into two groups behind each row. Each cone was spaced out every 20 yards. QIC set up a timer and at the start, one PAX from each group began. PAX had 90 seconds to do all the exercises and haul ass back to the start, otherwise they will have received a lethal dose of radiation.
1st cone: PAX did 5 communist Blockies. These are Blockies but all PAX had to do 5 regular burpees alongside their comrade.
2nd cone: 10 Russian Twists with the block.
3rd cone: 10 Hammer and Sickles. This is a combination curl with the block and straight into an overhead press.
At the 3rd cone, there was a tire sled that PAX had to pull backwards 20 yards to the 4th cone. Q called this “pulling the control rods out”.
Upon reaching the 4th cone, PAX had sprint back to the start.
PAX got in about 5-6 rounds
Only Tebow and Endo made it back before the 90 second timer expired. This only happened once.
Everyone else died from radiation exposure.
